Gender equality drives clean energy innovation

Successfully transitioning to a low-carbon future will depend on our ability to harness all possible talent in service of the breakthrough ideas and solutions that will transform our world.

Right now, the resource sector is one of the least diverse worldwide. Internationally, women represent only 35% of the clean energy workforce, and it’s time to move the dial toward equality!

How can we make a difference?

  • Gender Diversity - Increase

Increase the participation of women in the clean energy sector

  • Gender Diversity - Include

Retain women and create an environment where they feel valued

  • Gender Diversity - Retain

Include more women in positions of leadership

Gender equality at CEM10/MI-4

At CEM10/MI-4, gender equality will take centre stage to celebrate the contribution of women in clean energy and build consensus around the need to transform good intentions into meaningful action.

By embedding gender equality into the design of CEM10/MI-4, Canada will set a new precedent for diversity and inclusion, and together we will:

  • Ensure the diverse voices, views and presence of women are considered in the composition of speakers, roundtables and panels
  • Demonstrate and showcase women’s accomplishments throughout the event’s printed and digital media
  • Champion the gender focus and create a legacy of gender equality as a permanent part of future Ministerials

Join us in putting gender equality at the heart of the energy transformation!

In the spotlight

Equal30 Logo

The Equal by 30 campaign asks companies and governments to endorse principles of equal pay, equal leadership and equal opportunities, and to take concrete action to close the gender gap in the clean energy sector. At CEM10/MI-4, we’ll shine a light on organizations that have joined the campaign and we’ll share success stories of our signatories and inspire others to take action.
